Today we'll learn how to make homemade ketchup using tomatoes, apples, and onions. This ketchup has a much richer flavor than store-bought ketchup and is healthier because it's made from natural ingredients!

Ingredients
  

  • 3 kg tomatoes
  • 250 G onions
  • 0.5 kg apples
  • 150 G red bell pepper
  • 2 pcs carnation
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon
  • 4 pcs black peppercorns
  • 1.5 tbsp salt
  • 1.5 tbsp Sahara
  • 40 ml vinegar
  • 2 heads garlic

Instructions
 

  • First, let's prepare all the ingredients for the ketchup. Wash the vegetables and apples thoroughly and pat dry with a towel.
  • Take the washed tomatoes and cut them into cubes (be sure to remove the stems).
  • Take the pepper, remove the seeds and chop it coarsely along with the onion.
  • Now take the apples, peel them and cut them into slices.
  • Place the chopped tomatoes, peppers, and onions in a saucepan and add the apples. Simmer over low heat for 25 minutes until smooth.
  • Take the garlic and crush it in a garlic press.
  • Remove the cooked vegetable mixture from the stove, let it cool slightly, then take a blender (use an immersion blender) and grind the mixture until smooth.
  • The chopped vegetable mass must be rubbed through a sieve.
  • Return the resulting puree to the pan and cook until completely thickened. Add the prepared garlic and spices and cook for another 10 minutes. Then add the sugar, salt, pepper, and vinegar.

  • Let the mixture cool slightly, and then pour the finished ketchup into jars. Seal with boiled lids, then place the jars under a fur coat and wait until they cool completely.
  • The jars must be sterilized in the oven beforehand, and the lids must be boiled in hot water.

Note

Cooking tips:
  • It will taste like ketchup more saturated, if you use freshly harvested apples.
  • For cooking, it is better to use fleshy and ripe tomatoes.
  • If you like it spicy, add a couple of chili peppers.
  • Store in a cool place.
