Dried apple jam
Dried apple jam is not only a delicious but also a healthy alternative to regular preserves. One of the main reasons for its popularity is its lower sugar content. What is dried jam? It's apple slices that have been dried to a candy-like consistency. To make this jam for 10 people, you'll need:

Dry apple jam
Ingredients
- 250 gram cane sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon citric acid
- 1 kg apples
Instructions
- Prepare all the necessary ingredients. First, cut the apples into thin slices. Larger apples are best divided into 12 pieces, and smaller ones into 8.
- Then carefully place the apple slices on a baking sheet and sprinkle them with cinnamon, citric acid, and sugar (reserve about 50 g for the final topping). Stir.
- Place the baking tray in a preheated oven at 180–200 degrees for 25 minutes.
- After the time has elapsed, remove the baking sheet from the oven. Wait for the apples to cool. The slices should still be soft.
- The next step is to remove the apples from the pan with a spatula and place them on parchment paper lightly dusted with the remaining sugar. This will impart extra sweetness to the slices and create a delicate, light crust on the surface. After this, the apple slices are ready for drying.
- Leave to dry for 2-3 days. If you want to speed up the process, you can use a fan-assisted oven, setting the temperature to 60-75 degrees Celsius and opening the door slightly.
- Prepared apple slices can be stored in glass or plastic jars in a dry place at room temperature. This way, you can enjoy aromatic and healthy dried jam any time of year. It's important to seal the containers loosely to prevent moisture buildup. Enjoy!
Note
- It's best to choose sweet and sour apple varieties. You can even use ones with various defects and damage. Just avoid overripe ones, otherwise the apple slices won't hold their shape.
- You can use coconut sugar instead of cane sugar. This will give the finished dish an even more interesting flavor.
- If you dry apples outdoors, it is better to cover them with gauze.
