Classic chokeberry and apple compote for the winter
Ingredients
- 2.5 l water
- 500 G apples
- 500 G chokeberry
- 0.5 tsp citric acid
- By to taste Sahara
Instructions
- To make compote, take a 5-liter saucepan and pour water into it.
- Rinse the apples and rowan berries under the tap, cut the ingredients into small pieces, and add to the container.
- The amount of sugar is determined depending on your taste preferences; you can omit it altogether, or if you like it sweeter, you will need 1 cup for this volume.
- Finish adding the ingredients with citric acid, it will add a slight sourness.
- Bring the contents of the pan to a boil.
- Pour into sterilized jars and roll up the lids.
- Leave to cool in a warm place, turning the jars upside down.
Note
If the rowan berries are covered with a thick layer of dirt after picking, it is recommended to leave the berries in a bowl of water to soak.
