New Year's layered salad with crab sticks and scallops
Crab stick, egg, and grated apple salad has become a true holiday classic. It's second in popularity only to Olivier salad and herring under a fur coat. This dish is incredibly simple to prepare, requires only a few ingredients, and the slight tartness of the apples combined with the hearty crab sticks gives it a special charm.
Don't forget to decorate the salad for the holiday!

Crab Stick Salad with Apples: A Classic Recipe
Ingredients
- 2-3 pcs. chicken eggs
- 90 G crab sticks
- 85 G apples
- 40 G cheese
- 3-5 tbsp mayonnaise
Instructions
- First, boil the eggs. Cool them, and then separate the yolks from the whites.
- Grate the egg whites finely and place them on a plate. Spread mayonnaise on this first layer.
- Remove the protective film from the crab sticks. Grate them finely, just like the egg whites, and then place them on top of the egg whites as a second layer.
- Peel the apples, grate them coarsely, and place them on top of the crab sticks.
- Spread a couple more spoons of mayonnaise on top to hold the structure together.
- Finely grate the cheese (hard cheese is best). Place it as the fourth layer. If the cheese is too dry, add another tablespoon of mayonnaise on top.
- Finely grate the egg yolks directly over the salad. Spread them evenly over the dish.
- Let the salad sit in the refrigerator for 40 minutes to allow it to soak in.
