Why apples are not digested

Apples are rich in nutrients that have a positive effect on intestinal function. Since every human body is different, there are cases where the sweet and juicy fruit is not digested, causing bloating and unpleasant gastrointestinal pain. What could be the cause of such a reaction to apples, and how can it be avoided? Let's find out.

How many apples can you eat per day? Are there any restrictions?

Experts recommend eating two large or three medium-sized apples per day. If you're watching your figure, be careful when choosing your fruit, as calorie content varies by variety. Apples' pectin and fiber content hydrate the gastrointestinal tract, which can contribute to weight gain. Diabetics should limit their consumption of this sweet fruit to no more than one per day.

Eating large quantities of apples is not recommended, as the fruit has high acidity, which negatively affects the gastrointestinal tract and can irritate the stomach lining.

The main reasons for apple indigestion

Indigestion from apples is most common in people who consume large amounts of the fruit. Symptoms may include a bitter taste in the mouth, heaviness, bloating, and constipation. Indigestion may be caused by the following:

  • Eating on an empty stomach - acidic foods can easily cause bloating and exacerbate possible illnesses due to the large amount of fiber they contain;
  • the presence of stomach problems (ulcers or gastritis) - in this case, after eating apples, you will experience characteristic pain in the upper gastrointestinal tract and heartburn;
  • a sharp decrease in gastric tone - flatulence may occur when consuming apples with fatty foods and cause stomach cramps;
  • consequences of taking antibiotics - after treatment, problems with food absorption may be observed due to disruption of the intestinal microflora by the tablets;
  • overeating - the body will need a lot of effort to process a large amount of food, so this can lead to a “reboot” of the intestines;
  • Eating quickly on the run—poorly chewed food can negatively impact the digestion process, and the food may simply linger in the stomach.

What to do if your body can't digest apples

The surest and simplest way to solve this problem is to eliminate apples from your diet. If you experience intestinal problems when eating this fruit, the simplest solution is to simply avoid it. Consulting a doctor is recommended to determine the cause of this reaction.Why apples are not digested

Additional preventive measures:

  • If you have digestive problems, reduce your apple consumption so that less pectin and fiber enters the stomach;
  • eat only clean fruits, as eating dirty fruits can lead to additional intoxication and cause fermentation;
  • You should only eat ripe fruits: green fruits have high acidity, which can simply irritate the body;
  • If you have high stomach acidity, it is recommended to choose sweeter varieties that contain more fructose;
  • You can try eating apples in a different form, for example baked or as jam.

It's important to remember that only a doctor can determine the cause of these types of discomfort and problems. Therefore, if you've been experiencing symptoms of apple indigestion for a long time, it's best to make an appointment with a specialist and receive appropriate treatment.
