Ingredients

  • 200 G cottage cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ Art. Sahara
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 200-250 G flour
  • 500 G apples
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  • Prepare the dough. Add the cottage cheese and egg to a large bowl. Whisk until smooth. Add the sugar, salt, and butter. Mix all ingredients until smooth. Gradually add the flour and knead the dough until it no longer sticks to your hands. Form the dough into a ball and wrap it in plastic wrap. Let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
  • Prepare the filling. Peel the apples and cut them into small cubes. Place them in a frying pan and sprinkle with cinnamon. Fry the apples over medium heat until soft. Let them cool.
  • Form a braid. Divide the dough into 4 equal parts. Roll each part into a rectangle. Divide the filling into half of each rectangle. Fold the rectangle in half and press the edges together. Cut the rectangle into 3 strips. Fold the strip into a braid and transfer to a greased baking sheet. Repeat this process with all the rectangles.
  • Bake the braid. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Brush the braid with egg yolk. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown.

Note

The dough can be kneaded by hand or using a food processor.
Prepare the filling ahead of time so that it has time to cool before you assemble the braid.
If you don't want the braid to look too dry, you can brush the top with honey or glaze.
The braid can be served hot or cold, as a dessert or breakfast.
This braided cottage cheese with apples is a wonderful choice for those who love light and delicious desserts. This dish doesn't take much time to prepare, and the results won't disappoint.
