Apple roses
Ingredients
- 3 apples
- 500 G puff pastry
- ½ lemon (juice)
- 100 ml water
- 4 tbsp honey
- 3 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp flour (for dusting the countertop)
Instructions
- Prepare medium-sized apples and defrost a bag of puff pastry. Both green and red peeled apples will work. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the lemon juice and liquid.
- Slice the apples. First, cut them in half, removing the core and seeds, then slice them into thin slices.
- Place them in lemon water to prevent oxidation and color loss. Microwave the apple slices for 3-5 minutes at maximum temperature. Once the slices have softened, drain them in a sieve to remove excess juice.
- While the ingredients are drying and cooling, begin preparing the dough. Unroll it on a floured countertop and cut it into twelve strips.
- Roll each piece out slightly.
- Grease them with honey.
- Arrange the apple slices overlapping each other on one half of the dough, allowing them to extend slightly beyond the edges of the strip. Sprinkle with a little cinnamon, if desired.
- Fold the strips in half, covering the apple slices.
- Roll the strip into a roll.
- Bake the resulting apple “roses” on a baking sheet or in muffin tins.
- Bake the roses at 190°C for 45 minutes. When done, remove them from the pan and cool on a wire rack.
- Dust the finished products with powdered sugar. You can add cinnamon to the powdered sugar if desired. The apple roses can be arranged on a large platter; they will decorate any table.
