Profilaktin for gardening: instructions for use

Profilaktin for the garden is an effective pest control product for early spring treatment of fruit and berry crops. Most product names are just misleading, and the active ingredient itself doesn't actually solve the underlying problems. As for Profilaktin, the name speaks for itself. It will bring tremendous benefits to your garden and vegetable patch if used according to the clear instructions.

General description

Profilaktin is an effective insecticide that targets pests both during treatment and in specific situations. Using this chemical will eliminate not only adult pests that are trying to damage your crops but also the eggs they've laid. The product is most often used on pome and stone fruit trees, as well as berry bushes. One treatment is sufficient to protect crops for the entire season.

"Profilaktin", as its name suggests, is intended to prevent plant infection, not to control existing pests.

According to the instructions, Profilaktin for garden use is used to kill pests during the wintering stage. For preventative purposes, the product is used on stone fruit crops (cherry, plum, apricot, etc.), pome fruits (apples, pears), and berry bushes (currants, raspberries, blackberries, gooseberries, etc.). A two-component insecticide and acaricide used to treat fruit trees and shrubs. It only helps eliminate overwintering pests. This product is not intended for treating diseases.

The principle of action of the drug

Profilaktin is classified as a broad-spectrum pesticide. It penetrates the body of harmful insects and exerts a gastrointestinal toxic effect, resulting in the death of the pests. Its oil-based formulation prevents fungal spores from germinating, protecting plants from fungal infection and acting as a fungicide.

Types and forms of release

Profilaktin for gardening: instructions for useThe drug has several varieties in terms of release form:

  • basic version - consists of mineral oil and organophosphates;
  • light format - water emulsion based on vaseline oil;
  • bio-vaseline oil together with matrine.

Profilaktin is available only in small half-liter containers, with a shelf life of up to 2 years.

Instructions for use

Preparation should be carried out strictly according to the instructions for Profilaktin Light for garden use. Shrubs and fruit trees should be treated either early in the morning or late in the evening, when there is no strong wind. Direct sunlight will dry out the Vaseline oil in the mixture, reducing its penetration. Before spraying, it is necessary to carry out appropriate sanitary pruning and remove loose bark, and only then evenly coat the trees and shrubs with the appropriate mixture.

The consumption rate of "Profilaktin" per bush is approximately 1.5 liters, and for trees - from 2 to 5, depending on its size.

Waiting period

The protective agent is effective for 30 days or more after the start of the growing season.

Security measures

Gardeners should remember standard safety precautions and use a mask, respirator, and protective clothing to prevent the solution from coming into contact with skin or eyes when spraying. Just because a substance isn't classified as highly hazardous doesn't mean its toxicity won't affect humans. A reaction in humans and animals may not be immediately apparent, but it can impact health in the future.

If Profilaktin comes into contact with your skin, rinse the area thoroughly with running water and use a baking soda solution. If the medication is swallowed, take an activated charcoal tablet and seek medical attention.

During processing it is necessary:

  • refrain from eating and smoking;
  • prepare the substance in special containers that are not intended for food;
  • After completing the work, take a hot shower and wash off all caustic substances;
  • carry out work in a safety zone at a distance of 150 meters from children's playgrounds and 15 meters from residential buildings.

Compatibility with other drugs

In the instructions for Profilaktin, the manufacturer strictly emphasizes that mixing the product with other aggressive chemicals, including weakly acidic and alkaline liquids, is not recommended. This could destroy the nanostructure and negate the product's effectiveness.
