Fresh apple compote in a saucepan

Fresh apple compote in a saucepan
Ingredients
- 1 kg apples
- 0.5 glass Sahara
- 4 l drinking water
Instructions
- Place a pot of drinking water on the stove, turn on the heat and bring the water to a boil.
- The selected apples are washed thoroughly, cut into 4 pieces, the seeds and insides are removed, and the peel is cut off if desired.
- Prepared fruits are cut into thin slices or small pieces.
- Carefully lower the chopped apples into boiling water, add sugar and stir the liquid until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Turn the stove to medium or low heat and bring the drink to a boil.
- Cooking the compote can be stopped after just 1–2 minutes of boiling, which will preserve the apples' firmer consistency. For soft, steamed fruit, boil for 5–7 minutes. However, prolonged heat treatment (more than 10 minutes) is not recommended, as it destroys most of the apples' vitamins, making the compote just as tasty but significantly less nutritious.
- After turning off the stove, the pot with the drink should be tightly covered with a lid and the compote should be allowed to steep for 20–30 minutes, or better yet, until the drink has completely cooled.
Note
- For compote, you should choose ripe, juicy and dense apples, preferably sweet and sour varieties;
- To prepare the drink, you should use filtered or bottled water without additives or impurities, since tap water can give the drink an unpleasant taste;
- The amount of sugar depends on the sweetness of the apples - for sour varieties it is worth using more sugar, and for sweet ones the amount of sugar can be reduced;
- Bright and dark red apples will give the compote a rich color, while yellow and green fruits will provide a lighter shade of the liquid, while the color of the apples does not have a significant effect on the taste and aroma of the drink;
- For those who prefer warm rather than cold drinks, it's worth making the compote more concentrated by slightly increasing the amount of apples and sugar, which will allow the drink to be stored in the refrigerator, and then diluted with hot boiled water to a comfortable temperature for drinking;
- The cooled compote can be strained through a sieve to obtain a clean and clear liquid without any fruit pulp, or the drink can be beautifully poured into glasses, arranged with apple pieces, added ice, and a brightly colored drinking straw.
